And it’s a ten for M

 

The little boy in my arms,

is all grown up and ten.

I still sit through his old pics,

and smile now and then

 

With every passing year,

you are taller and grown.

I silently cherish the moments,

when you left me blown.

 

An year just swept by,

with all of us a home.

That also made you and me,

bond beyond our comfort zone.

 

We saw your side , which to us,

was a space completely unknown.

Things we never thought you would,

do and then call them your own.

 

With all this came a lot of,

talks, chats and notes.

Sometimes they made us think,

about the times and our dotes.

 

Being a parent is not easy,

and we wonder every day.

If what we do is right,

in whatever comes our way.

Self doubts are part of this,

and so is this incessant pride.

When we see you shine,

with compassion & kind eyed.

 

Your dreams are simple,

but your passion is live.

I know one day you will,

find all what you strive.

 

For me you are just ten,

and I will forever hold your hand.

Sometimes you may not need me,

but my eyes will follow wherever you land.

 

All I wish you good health,

lots of kindness in your heart.

For the living beings around,

who shall always be your part.

Happy 9 to you M!

I love calling you M. 

No not because it sounds cool, but because this letter always reminds me of you. When you were born and we were asked to find a name for you starting with M..God only knows how much research I did. Not just internet but I also went to different book stores to find a good name. Ha ha and then we found MEDHANSH. I also love the fact that you are so proud of your name and its meaning...which is 'someone who is born intelligent'.

Another secret is even before you were born, we had thought to call you MANu +resHU = MANSHU a cute combination of your dad's and mine nick name. Serendipity is that too had M. So ya, this letter for me is always you.

M also signifies my beautiful journey of Motherhood which started with you.

Here is a small customary birthday poem which I write every year for you but you will only get to understand and read once you are 18 :)

So here we are all set to celebrate your big day,

Amidst these days which we won’t ever forget.

The times which we don’t ever want to come our way,

But still we take the learning from this for our best.

Another year gone by and I see you growing fast,

I wish, I could hold the time and enjoy your talks more.

My lovely boy may this charm of yours may ever last,

In my memories to relive them everyday as you enjoy your shore.

There is so much we did together this year,

Travelled places, made cookies & played games.

Every single day, I saw you figuring out what is your dear,

Your endless stories about everything was anything but lame.

There were days when you would get upset for me being strict,

But I knew the way to make it again work between us.

It was never easy I can assure, but then I had to stick,

To what I felt will give you a life of self-fetched success.

Each day I feel  more blessed of the fact that I have you,

Though at times I wonder why your every statement starts with ‘Mama’.

But then no matter how it sounds, it definitely has a love clue,

You make me who I am today and for that I am up with all your Drama.

We are so different from each other still have a lot of alike,

You dislike my favorite maths but love numbers and facts.

You enjoy quizzing me with data, which was never my stride,

How you love the mystery of maps which is so much beyond my acts.

So my dear son , today as you complete nine beautiful years,

And feel extremely happy to be a big boy with dreamy eyes.

Exuberant to create your own happy story without fears,

LOOK WHO TURNED FOUR

Look who just turned four,

a mom in me and a dad in YOU.

With each day together and more,

love and patience grew between us TWO.

Our little baby is quite tall NOW,

before we could even hold the time for few.

I remember his first look which left us WOW,

and here we have him stepping in a year yet new.

His ever naughty smile added to our JOY,

while high fives were such a fulfilling pride.

Days became years as we played with our TOY,

who never let us down in any of his stride.

You held him to walk his little STEPS,

I tried my best not to let him fall ever.

We worked as a team for all his PREPS,

and yes he made us run together.

I know what you and me would MISS,

and as I write my eyes are tear filled.

But what is coming ahead is so much BLISS,

that we all would be simply thrilled.

Parenting is a game of growing ,

as we kiss each year GOOD BYE.

With more strength and happiness sowing,

I hardly realized as the time flee.

It seems you were born just yesterday,

As a Mom in me, grew with everyday.

I learned to smile with every giggle , 

Non stop bubbling and babble.

I wondered what made you run so fast,

When my energy could hardly last.

Oh boy, as you turn THREE…

Silly me felt proud when you chewed your food,

Went around telling look he is so good.

The glory of your first deeds,

Are now my memories all in deep.

Oh boy , as you turn Three…

Your independence brought more questions,

And my answers were always short of reasons.

You never missed a chance to be clicked,

And let you mommy capture some amazing flicks.

Oh boy, as you turn THREE…

Every time you tried to speak your mind,

Adding words picked from dialect divine.

And then those dance moves you learnt,

All this was enough for me to go stunt.

Oh boy, as you turn THREE…

Wish I could freeze the time,

And let you be all mine.

But then world has to see more of you,

For you my boy have to conquer them too.
